Two Line Selectors

TWO LINE SELECTOR
AUTOMATIC TWO LINE SWITCH

LINE SELECTOR will allow ONE TELEPHONE DEVICE
to be connected to TWO separate telephone lines

It is ideal for :

Emergency Phones, Elevator Phones, Intercom Phones, EFT-POS machines

and ANY other Telephone Device that needs Telephone Line Redundancy

Connect to ANY combination of the the following Lines :

* PSTN Lines   *  PBX Extensions   *  FXO Ports   * FXS Ports

* ATA Analog Telephone Adaptors   * Cellular Gateways

You will then be able to :

  • Automatically Dial Out on Either Line

  • Automatically Receive Calls on Either Line

  • The Primary Line will be used if available

  • The Back Up Line will be used if the Primary Line is Busy or Disconnected

Two Models are Available :

1)     Model LS-1 : Standard Model ($AU 199.00)

  • Provides all of the above features

  • Allows Incoming or Outgoing Calls on Either Line

  • Uses Primary Line for Outgoing Calls

  • Automatically selects the Alternative Line if the Primary Line is in Use or Not Connected

  • Will 'Busy' Out the OTHER Line whenever One Line is in use

  • Will connect the attached Device to the Primary Line if Power is Lost or Disconnected

  • Built for Extreme Reliability

  • Supplied with a Two Year Warranty.

This is our most popular model, because it provides simple Automatic Telephone Line redundancy (back up).  There are no Dip Switch settings or Programming options. Just plug it in as per the Installation Diagram and it is ready.

2)     Model LS-2 : Programmable Model ($AU 249.00)

Provides all features of Model LS1, plus the following additional facilities that can be set up by the user.

  • Automatic selection of the Alternative Back Up line can be disabled

  • Selection of the Alternative Line can then be selected by dialing DTMF digit *

  • If * is not suitable, the Line selection code can be changed to any other single DTMF digit

  • A 'Delay Time' before connecting the Device to the Alternative line can be programmed between 0-9 seconds.

  • A 'Call Advice Tone' can be injected into the DEVICE connection while on a call to advise that there is an incoming call on the other line. You can 'toggle' between Lines by pressing *.

  • With Model LS1, the other is always 'busied' when one line is in use. This prevents the other line making a call or receing a call.
Model LS2 allows the user to leave Line 1 available when Line 2 is in use and/or leave Line 2 available when Line 1 is in use.

  • See the table below for more detail.

OPERATION

One of the Two attached lines is nominated as the DEFAULT LINE (marked LINE 1 on Line Selector) and the other line is then set up as the ALTERNATIVE LINE (marked LINE 2 on Line Selector).

LINE SELECTOR will always choose the DEFAULT LINE (Line 1), unless you press the Line Change Code (which is programmable for any single digit) or it can also be set to select Line 2 whenever Line 1 is busy.

Incoming calls on EITHER LINE will be automatically routed to the attached device. If the attached device is already connected to a call when another call comes in on the other line, the call can be taken by any other device that may be connected to the same line.

Alternatively, if you are using an automatic receiving device such as a Fax Machine, Modem or Answering Machine to handle both lines, you may wish to use the switch selectable BUSY OUT facility, which if enabled, will automatically 'BUSY OUT' the other line whenever your attached device is operating.

LINE SELECTOR also provides a CALL ADVICE FACILITY, which if enabled will alert you of another call on the other line (with beeps), and will allow you to place the existing call On Hold, so that you can answer the other incoming call. You can then 'toggle' between calls as necessary by pressing *, or you can simply hang up on one call in which case you will be automatically connected to the other call.

EASY USER INSTALLATION

  1. Connect your Primary Telephone Line Service to the port labeled LINE 1.

  2. Connect your Alternative Telephone Line Service  to the port labeled LINE 2.

MAKE OUTGOING CALLS ON EITHER LINE
Both Models will allow you to MAKE Outgoing calls on BOTH attached telephone lines.

RECEIVE INCOMING CALLS ON EITHER LINE
Both Models will allow you to RECEIVE Incoming calls on BOTH attached telephone lines.

PROGRAMMABLE LINE CHANGE CODE
With Model LS2, outgoing calls are automatically connected to the Default Outgoing line. To make an outgoing call on the alternative line, * must be dialed to switch the device to the Alternative line. You can change the * Line Change code to any other single digit code.

PROGRAMMABLE LINE CHANGE DELAY
Whenever the ALTERNATIVE LINE is selected to make an outgoing call, there is a short delay after detecting *. You can change the Line Change delay time anywhere between immediate and 9 seconds.

OTHER LINE CALL ADVICE FACILITY
LINE SELECTOR can be set to inject 'Call Advise Tones' into your Line 1 or Line 2 call to alert you that you have an incoming call on the other line. It will also allow you to place the existing call ON HOLD and allow you to ANSWER the other call by pressing * on your telephone. You can return to the other call at any time by pressing *, or toggles between calls.

OTHER LINE BUSY OUT FACILITY
LINE SELECTOR will allow you to individually 'Busy Out' Line 1 or Line 2, when the other line is in use. This means that you can prevent being disturbed on your primary line (or both lines) from calls on the other line.

AUTOMATIC LINE CHANGE FACILITY
LINE SELECTOR can be set to automatically select Line 2 to make outgoing calls whenever Line 1 is in use. This saves the need to press the Line Change command and is ideal for use by automatic dialling equipment.

Important Note

If LINE SELECTOR  is used with an EMERGENCY or CRITICAL Telephone Device, then Model 2LS-1 is recommended and correct operation of Line Selector and the Telephone Device should be tested at appropriate Intervals for its application.

Although LINE SELECTOR has proved to be extremely reliable over many years of operation, events such as telephone line surges, power surges, connection issues or even failure of Line Selector are all possible.
