AUDIO SWITCHING UNIT

Allows TDU operation with an existing Amplified Speaker System. On triggering it will automatically remove or reduce the primary Audio feed and connect the TDU Audio feed. At the end of the message, it will then automatically disconnect the TDU and reconnect the primary Audio feed.

 

Where an existing Public Address or Background Music speaker system is already available and you wish to output TDU messages via this system, then the optional AUDIO SWITCHING UNIT (ASU) accessory should be used.

ASU will automatically connect TDU messages when triggered and at the same time mute the normal audio source. 

Muting from 15-100% is achieved with a variable pot.

Our AUDIO SWITCH UNIT (ASU) will allow the Talking Display Unit (TDU) to share the amplifiers and speakers used in an existing in store background music system.

The ASU will automatically detect and connect the start of the TDU message to the in store speaker system and simultaneously mute the existing background music feed. The background music will then be automatically restored at the end of the message.

The ASU is supplied with two standard plug in 3.5mm audio inputs and one standard plug in 3.5mm audio output. The ASU unit must be connected ahead of any amplifiers used for the existing in store background music system.

Power for the ASU and communication between the ASU and the TDU is achieved via a single 2 pair telephone cable, which is supplied with the ASU. There is no need for any other external connections.

The ASU unit can also be used in conjunction with the MIU to allow up to 12 separate sensors and messages to play via the existing in store background music system.

 
 

MULTIPLE INPUT UNIT

 

Allows up to 12 switches, sensors or PIR detectors to be connected to the TDU.  Each switch, sensor or PIR detector will have its own unique message output.

MULTIPLE INPUT UNIT will allow up to 12 separate sensors to be connected to the one TDU. The TDU can then play one of up to 12 separate messages, held in its memory, depending on which sensor has been triggered.

This means that:
Sensor 1 when triggered will cause Message 1 to play
Sensor 2 when triggered will cause Message 2 to play
.....and so on up to sensor number 12.

Sensors for use with the MIU can be 'normally open' or 'normally closed'. Please specify which type you are using at time of order.

Sensors can be located up to 100m from the MIU unit, or greater than 100m from the MIU if low resistance wiring is used. The remote sensors connect to the MIU via a female 25 pin D type connector. Each sensor has been allocated a specific pin position (full connection details are provided in the MIU User Guide which can be downloaded by clicking the MIU image below and selecting the documentation tab).

While the TDU is playing a message, the MIU will continue to detect further triggering by the attached sensors and can hold in buffer up to 10 separate further triggers. Then when each message is complete, the MIU will instruct the TDU to play the message corresponding to the next triggering action. The TDU can only play one message at one time.

Communication between the MIU and the TDU is achieved via a single 2 pair telephone cable, which is supplied with the MIU. There is no need for any other external connections.

MIU4 allows for connection of up to 4 switches or sensors ($199.00 incl GST).

MIU8 allows for connection of up to 4 switches or sensors ($249.00 incl GST).

MIU12 allows for connection of up to 4 switches or sensors ($299.00 incl GST).

 

All MIU units are available for use with :

    Normally Open Switches (-NO prefix), when standard switches are used.
or 
   Normally Closed Switches (-NC prefix), when security switches or sensors are used such as PIR detectors.

SPEAKER SWITCHING UNIT

 

Allows up to 12 speakers (4 Ohm or 8 Ohm) to be connected to the audio output of TDU, when used in conjunction with the Multiple Input Unit. This complete system then provides for 12 independent and separate "zones" each with its own message and local speaker.

SPEAKER SWITCHING UNIT, which is designed to operate with the MIU and the TDU, will also allow up to 12 separate 8 ohm speakers to be connected to the one Talking Display Unit (TDU), in conjunction with up to 12 separate sensors.
